Have you ever thought of how to get better at studying and get better grades? What about your report card? Do you feel happy with the grades that you have? I am going to tell you the tips and tricks to get better at studying.
First of all, you need to find a place where you can study peacefully, with no distractions. If your house is not a place where you can do that, I recommend going to the library or a friend’s house. Then, you need to put your phone or any appliance that might distract you away, or even better, in another room.
Next, when you are studying, you should not study for too long. I recommend studying every day for 30 minutes to an hour. If you study all at once in a single day, you will not be able to comprehend everything at the same time. According to Dr. Robert Stickgold, “During sleep, your brain is taking your memories, reactivating and looking at them again, and storing them in a more efficient and effective form.”
Further, it’s not beneficial to study consecutively for a whole hour. What I suggest is to study for 20 minutes, take a 5-minute break, and then go back to studying. This technique, named the Pomodoro Method, can be really useful. According to Excelsior University, “Using the structured approach of the Pomodoro technique for your courses, with its focused work sessions and short breaks, can help you do more and feel more accomplished as you complete each pomodoro. Plus, the short breaks between study intervals allow the brain to process information more effectively, leading to better memory retention for what you’re learning.”
Lastly, I recommend making a study schedule. You should know when to study and what to study to get efficient results. You could also talk to your teachers when needing help. And finally, look online for some practice exams. There are so many to choose from, and they are all extremely helpful for tests. As much as studying is really important, it can be very difficult too. Remember to always stay calm and focused when you are studying.
